In keeping with the season, we have chosen to study poinsettias, drawing and painting them in large scale. And then, as an alternate representation, interpreting our observations using torn paper collage as the medium. Here’s what we think of our work:

I have been trying to get better at painting, and be better at making more details and trying to make things look more realistic. I love how Georgia O’Keeffe made her flowers. She cropped the pictures and made the flowers bigger . I felt like I had to pay attention a little bit more to my work so that people could understand my painting. Next time I am thinking of focusing on more of the flower and making less details, like Georgia O’Keeffe did. – Damarco
Georgia O’Keeffe used light and dark colors to make flowers and made them look like they were coming off the paper. She used paint. I used paint. My work is different than hers. I made big flowers, that were poinsettias. I don’t think she used those type of flowers in her work.
I like the flowers and my mom told me about some of the flowers that Georgia O’Keeffe painted. She also painted other things. She used the whole page and she worked very big. I made the same thing like her, but I used a different color. I mixed my own colors and made a special peach out of orange, white and red for my painting.
Georgia O’Keeffe liked to paint stuff different ways. She used the whole page and made everything very big. When she ran out of space she painted over things and reused paper. She used different colors and used them in different ways than the other artists did. I like when she put the background in with different colors and sometimes put bright blue so it could represent the sky. I tried to work like she did. We watched a video of students painting giant flowers, but they tried to put in too much details, so they had to take some out. When they were finished, it looked a little like the flowers that Georgia O’Keeffe made.
Georgia O’Keeffe was a famous artist. I tried to make my art go off the page and be close up like she did. I liked painting and making my drawings.
Georgia O’Keeffe was a great artist that did flowers in a nice a way. She did her backgrounds in a beautiful way. We worked on a painting. We copied flowers that were on a pot and we did what we saw. We looked at the poinsettias and we drew using lines. After that we painted itby looking at the flowers and using tints and shades.
I love Georgia O’Keeffe’s work. I like her flowers that she painted, they are awesome! One of them was black, red, pink, and orange. They were poppies. I liked the way she used the red and black. Those are my favorite colors. My painting was red, blue, orange and green because we were painting poinsettias. I used the orange and blue to make the light and shadows so I can cover all the white. I enjoyed it because that was my favorite painting that I ever made.
Georgia O’Keeffe was very smart. She did big flower paintings. I painted a flower. I used alot of different colors on my painting.

I learned that Georgia O’Keeffe made cityscapes of New York, paintings of mountains and snow, and flowers using lots of colors and shapes. She used schemes like cool colors of green and blue. She was an American artist. My work has red flowers with darker flowers in the background. There are colors in the background that I made. I have a center point in my work. It is different from Georgia’s work because of the way I used colors.
I learned that Georgia O’Keeffe was inspired by skyscarapers, urban structures, flowers, and bones in New Mexico. She made her paintings of cow’s skulls and made them look almost like a flower on a stem, like in her painting Deer’s Skull with Pedernal, 1936. I was inspired by the way she used colors and I used colors in torn collage by choosing my colors to fit the photographs and in my painting by experimenting with mixing colors.
I learned about Georgia O’Keeffe and her art. She studied one part of her subject closely and then she blew it up bigger. Then she would paint it. She painted in the desert and she worked from her memories too and put it in her art. I made a flower collage using scraps of paper and also tearing the paper. I composed it circley and I didn’t quite fill the page but almost did. I made it close up like Georgia O’Keeffe did.
We were studying an artist that was a painter. We made paintings and collages. Her work was very nice.
Georgia O’Keeffe was a artist that painted. She went into the desert and did big art paintings. She made them abstract. I made my collage and my painting abstract too.
Georgia O’Keeffe painted things abstract. she lived in the desert and worked there. She lived until she was 93 years old and painted all the time. She painted alot of things. Sometimes she started with the way they really looked and then she made them abstract by making them more simple. Sometimes she would change the colors too to make them abstract. My art looks abstract too. I made my collage very simple. It was a good lesson.
I learned about Georgia O’Keeffe. She got married to an artist that did photography and he had a gallery and she was a famous American artist.
She would draw and paint and then she would blow her work up bigger. So you are looking at it close up. I did flowers with a lot of different colors.I made a collage and a painting.
Georgia O’Keeffe was a famous artist. she got discovered by a guy and they wound up getting married. She drew pictures and she took pictures and then she took them, made them regular and then she would use a piece of it and blew it up very big. So big that it filled the whole entire page. I made a torn paper collage and I ripped it and glued it in an abstract way. My collage is very colorful and I didn’t use that much of green or red. I changed the colors and I didn’t make it look like a regular flower.
